(PatriotSpotlight.org) – The Spanish island of Ibiza is experiencing an uptick in possession of pink cocaine. The drug is a combination of ketamine and ecstasy, and has proven popular with British tourists.
Under the blistering afternoon sun, crowds of revelers can be seen strolling along the main stretch of San Antonio Bay, many inhaling nitrous oxide from balloons, commonly known as hippy crack. However, it’s the new, more sinister presence of pink cocaine, or “tusi,” that has authorities alarmed. Spanish officials have described the drug as “a bomb” due to its extreme toxicity, capable of causing severe health issues like hypertension and heart failure.
Tourists, particularly from the UK, find themselves at the epicenter of this burgeoning crisis. One former police chief on the island told press that UK visitors were “brazen” with their use and transport of the drug, sometimes selling it to fund their travels. The island’s drug trade isn’t limited to face-to-face transactions. Dealers in the UK have been found openly boasting online about running a drugs warehouse in Ibiza. For £55 plus £7 postage, these dealers are willing to send a gram of pink cocaine anywhere in Europe, using services like Royal Mail or DHL.
A harrowing encounter in San Antonio illustrated the pervasive nature of the problem. Sisters Diana and Daniella Lapo, along with their friend Oliwia, felt threatened after being repeatedly targeted by aggressive drug pushers. Oliwia, 19, from North London, recounted, “It’s all day long, they just don’t leave you alone. It’s really intimidating.” Despite heavy security at popular venues, drugs remain easily accessible along the seafront. Migrant sellers, primarily from Senegal, openly peddle balloons of laughing gas and offer pink cocaine to passersby. These sellers, stationed every few yards, shout offers of “Charlie” (cocaine) and “tusi” to tourists. A 14-year-old boy recently passed away in Madrid after ingesting the substance.
During a visit to a beachside tapas bar, it became evident how widespread the issue is. Sellers discreetly hide their stash in nearby gaps in the wall while public bins overflow with empty nitrous oxide canisters. The local landfill received 13 tons of these canisters last month alone.
Even in the early evening, as the sun sets and tourists head to the West End, the scene grows more chaotic. Balloon sellers and drug pushers become even more aggressive, targeting the young and inebriated. Declan, a 20-year-old from the North East of England, admitted, “We’ve spent loads of money. We’ve been offered everything. It’s been f***ing mental.”
This drug epidemic has severe consequences. Law enforcement recently busted a group with 13 kilos of pink cocaine, describing the mini cartel as “of a very violent nature,” armed with a submachine gun and other firearms.
