(PatriotSpotlight.org) – Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is the latest public figure to cast doubt on President Joe Biden’s mental fitness. It comes after Biden mumbled and appeared confused during a recent televised debate. In one key moment, which went viral on social media, the GOP’s presumptive nominee Donald Trump pointed out that Biden did not seem to be aware of the point he was trying to make. On Sunday Graham told press he worried that Biden would not be capable of serving as commander-in-chief until next January.
In particular, Graham seemed concerned that Biden’s weak demeanor could bolster America’s enemies abroad, and worry its allies. He said he was “offended” by claims Biden did not need to undergo a competency test, and feared it had already become a “dangerous time for the American people”. The South Carolina senator raised a shocking recent poll that found 70% of U.S. adults did not think Biden was physically or mentally fit enough to carry out his critical duties.
The Republican cited recent events to underscore his worries. He said that the day after the Oct. 7 attack on Southern Israel by Hamas and other Gaza-based terror groups, President Biden was interviewed by a special counsel who concluded that he was a “nice man with a bad memory”. He said that it would thus be hard to “convince a jury” that Biden had been involved in wrongdoing.
In a bipartisan call for transparency, Graham also proposed that former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, undergo a neurological exam at the very least. Reflecting on his predecessor as the Senate’s president pro tempore, Strom Thurmond, Graham noted the importance of ensuring the mental and physical fitness of those in key government positions, stating that Biden’s recent blunders must serve as a “wake-up call for the country,” given the potential of him having to tackle “dire” situations. The senator’s remarks have sparked debate on the necessity of regular mental health assessments for high-ranking officials, stirring political and public discourse as the nation approaches the upcoming presidential election.
