(PatriotSpotlight.org) – On Saturday evening President Joe Biden offered a somber statement in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. It came on the back of the shocking attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally over the weekend.
Visibly disturbed, Biden refrained from labeling the incident an assassination attempt without final reports. However, he made it clear that such acts of violence have no place in the United States. “It’s sick,” Biden declared. “We cannot allow for this to be happening, we cannot condone this.”
Biden offered his gratitude to the Secret Service and other officials who have responded to the incident and told the public that he promised to offer more information when it is available. He said that “political violence is unheard of and inappropriate,” and that a political rally should be peaceful. Online, many have criticized the Secret Service for failing to prevent the shooter, after one person passed away from a fatal shot.
The attack on Trump occurred Saturday evening, with witnesses indicating that the former president fell to the ground as Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him. Observers reported seeing Trump grab his right ear, which appeared to be bleeding. Photos from the event showed Trump’s face smeared with blood. However, Pennsylvania police sources indicated that Trump was likely not struck by a bullet. Instead, they believe glass fragments from a shattered teleprompter might have caused the injury. They suggest the teleprompter may have been hit, causing the glass to strike the former president.
After the high-profile attempt on Trump’s life, ex-President George W. Bush expressed relief at Trump’s survival. He claimed that himself and his wife were “grateful” his GOP successor was safe after such a “cowardly attack on his life.” He also commended Secret Service employees for a “speedy response.” As the nation, and the world, reels from this incident, Biden pledged to speak with Trump soon, underscoring the need for unity and a collective stand against political violence.
