San Diego Claims Migrants Aren’t Being Vetted Before Release

(PatriotSpotlight.org) – According to Jim Desmond, San Diego’s County Supervisor, more than 100,000 migrants released into the city weren’t subjected to any form of vetting before authorities allowed them to leave detention centers.

Desmond shared the alarming alert while talking about the growing immigration rate within San Diego, California, as the city saw more than 120,000 immigrants enter its streets over the past seven months. Desmond criticized border officials for failing to properly vet any immigrants before releasing them, which he claims would have “dire” consequences in the near future.

Desmond also expressed his disappointment in the Biden administration, whom he blames for the ongoing immigration surge into cities like San Deigo and New York City. While talking about immigration’s effect on San Diego authorities, Desmond claimed that California’s border officials couldn’t manage illegal immigration into the state due to the sheer number of illegal immigrants who arrive each month. Desmond also said that he believes immigration statistics are underreported, as border officials can’t accurately assess how many migrants travel by sea or how many immigrants enter the United States through a different process.

While Desmond criticized the Biden administration, he also highlighted the shortcomings of California’s border patrol officials, whom he believes aren’t correctly vetting immigrants who enter the state. According to Desmond, California’s Border Patrol is releasing immigrants too soon and can’t adequately determine if a migrant poses a security risk to the country without further vetting. California border patrol officials claim they use a three-day vetting process before releasing a migrant into the United States, but Desmond said that the state’s border patrol officials usually release immigrants within one or two days.

While discussing the lack of a proper vetting process, Desmond blamed the Biden administration’s relaxed immigration policies. The White House allows anyone attempting to enter the United States to apply for asylum, pending a border official’s approval. Desmond claims that the extremely high number of immigrants crossing into the country can’t have their asylum requests appropriately analyzed due to the lack of border patrol employees and resources. Due to this oversight from border officials, Desmond claims that criminals attempting to enter the United States have an easier time avoiding border officials and facing deportation.

While sharing how illegal immigration has caused an increase in crime in San Diego and strains the city’s resources, Desmond called for the Biden administration to take action to prevent the migration surge. According to Desmond, some of the people entering the United States should be monitored and deported, as they pose a genuine threat to cities like San Diego.
