Report Claims Pro-Hamas Agitators Were Trained In Cuba

(PatriotSpotlight.org) – Emerging reports suggest that some activists backing pro-Hamas protests on American college campuses may have received support and training in Cuba. The fresh outbreak of college demonstrations emerged following the Hamas-led attack on Southern Israel last October 7th, which claimed the lives of 200 people and involved the taking of hundreds of hostages into Gaza.

Executive director of the far-left “People’s Forum” organization, Manolo De Los Santos, reportedly has close ties with the Communist regime in Cuba. He has a history of pro-Cuba activism and it is alleged that he spearheaded the storming of Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall in April. His organization, which also has alleged links to the Chinese Communist Party, has been at the forefront of leading anti-Israel protests on college campuses. Following Hamas’ attack last Fall, the group organized a demonstration in Times Square in which attendees were filmed celebrating the attack and displaying signs with antisemitic imagery and slogans.

De Los Santos’s Cuban ties appear to have kickstarted in 2006 when he first visited the country through Pastors for Peace, a group associated with the National Network on Cuba. He engaged in Marxist-based studies at Cuba’s Matanzas Evangelical Seminary, a framework designed to promote pro-communist ideologies in Latin America. Over the years, De Los Santos has organized rallies in support of the Cuban regime in the United States and has openly expressed admiration for Fidel Castro. He once stated that he wished all leaders had the same “dignity and integrity” as Castro.

Beyond The People’s Forum, other far-left groups are involved in anti-Israel activism on American college campuses. These organizations, often with strong pro-Cuba connections, aim to promote their political ideologies and support for Palestine. Onyesonwu Chatoyer, a member of the Venceremos Brigade and the All African People’s Revolutionary Party, has openly expressed her opposition to Zionism, citing it as a struggle against settler colonialism and imperialism. The connections between campus agitators and the Cuban regime continue to spark concern about foreign influence on American colleges and raised questions about academic freedom and safety.
