Migrant Teacher Accused of Crimes was Deported — Twice

(PatriotSpotlight.org) – An illegal migrant originating from El Salvador is facing serious accusations of misconduct in his role as a teacher. It marks yet another high-profile criminal case involving someone who illicitly crossed the US southern border. 33-year-old Ervin Jeovany Alfaro-Lopez is facing charges of being accused of molesting four girls while teaching at a church near Washington, D.C., according to the New York Post.

Alfaro-Lopez appears to have a long and checkered history with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), having been deported twice prior to this recent scandal which took place after he was able to enter the country illegally for the third time. Despite these deportations, he managed to re-enter the country illegally each time, highlighting significant gaps in immigration enforcement measures. The alleged crimes reportedly took place on the grounds of Maryland’s Elim Misión Cristiana church where said illegal migrant had been working as an educator and instructor. There are claims that the abuse occurred throughout prayer time.

Alfaro-Lopez’s recent arrest has prompted criticism about police efficacy and current immigration policies. The local county’s police department released Alfaro-Lopez in August 2023, despite ICE’s request that he remain in custody. Darius Reeves, the ERO Baltimore Field Office Director, stated his anger on the matter as a “perfect example” of the degree of criminal which police often regard as safe to “recycle” back into communities, regardless of their risk of reoffending or committing more serious crimes.

Lopez said that the failure to “honor” ICE detainers had taken place before this “very tragic story”. Reeves told FOX 5 DC that counties should be barred from continuing policies of Counties repeatedly “recycling gang members with guns” along with people who have abused children and committed other offenses. For many voters, the severity of Alfaro-Lopez’s charges, along with his precarious immigration status and series of previous deportations, underscores the need for major immigration reforms and stronger rules to safeguard children and communities more broadly.
