(PatriotSpotlight.org) – Reality TV celebrity Leah McSweeney, famous for her regular appearances in “Real Housewives Of New York,” has pursued legal action against Andy Cohen and the Bravo channel, alleging that they exploited her alcohol addiction to attract viewership. McSweeney says that despite her known issues with substance abuse, the channel and its executives knowingly forged an environment which aided substance issues while the cameras rolled.
The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, targets Cohen, Bravo Media, NBCUniversal Media, Warner Bros. Discovery, and production company Shed Media US, along with specific producers. McSweeney alleges that she was pressured to drink alcohol and take drugs on set, exacerbating her vulnerabilities and mental health issues.
According to court documents, the complaint takes up a whopping 109 pages and paints a picture of a toxic workplace culture where employees were pressured into substance use. McSweeney asserts that the producers orchestrated scenarios to worsen her struggles for the sake of sensational footage.
Throughout these accusations, McSweeney also personally implicates Cohen, accusing him of being involved in drug use with cast members and employees. She also claims that Cohen’s behavior not only perpetuated a culture of substance abuse but also influenced the editing and treatment of certain individuals on the show.
This legal action comes amidst a widening backdrop of legal issues for Bravo, including claims of drug and alcohol abuse along with sexual harassment. Just days prior, a separate “Real Housewife”, Brandi Glanville, slammed Cohen for alleged sexual harassment. Cohen has dismissed the claims as a “joke” but later admitted his actions had been inappropriate.
The lawsuit signals a turning point in the ongoing debate surrounding reality TV ethics and the treatment of cast members. As the case continues, it will undoubtedly shed light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of one of Bravo’s most recognizable programs. The case defendants are yet to officially respond to its allegations in public.
