GOP Support Grows for Kari Lake

(PatriotSpotlight.org) – A steadfast ally of former US President Donald Trump looks poised to secure the nomination to run as the GOP’s candidate in Arizona’s upcoming Senate race. Former television presenter Kari Lake has thus far garnered the backing of more than half of current Republican senators.

Her newest endorsement came from Sen. Ted Budd of North Carolina on Tuesday, March 18th, Budd highlighted Lake’s vow to bolster border security and stick to conservative principles. Budd said that he endorsed Lake for Senate in Arizona, as she will “lower prices for American families”, and work toward reviving the country’s energy independence.” He also said she would be key to stopping what he deemed the “Far-Left agenda” of Democratic Majority leader Chuck Schumer.

Lake’s campaign’s support from almost 30 Republican senators. This support, coupled with her extensive experience in campaigning and a range of high-profile endorsements, including ex-President Donald Trump, makes her a key contender in what will be a fierce race in the battleground state. As it stands, it appears that her main rival for the GOP candidacy, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, could soon face an uphill battle against Lake.

Democrats currently hold a narrow 51-49 majority in the Senate. Two Independents also tend to vote with them. However, the balance could soon shift as Republicans aim to defend 34 seats, with 23 of them being held by a Democrat incumbent. The controversy over border security will likely play a key role in Arizona’s race, given that more than 1,000 illegal immigrants are thought to be entering the state each day.

Despite controversies over the state’s status quo, polling suggests it would be a dead heat between Lake and possible Democratic opponent, Rep. Ruben Gallego. In a theoretical matchup, Lake leads with 46% compared to Gallego’s 45%. incumbent Senator Kyrsten Sinema is not seeking re-election. Lake previously failed to win a closely contested gubernatorial race in Arizona, where she narrowly lost to current Governor Katie Hobbs.
