(PatriotSpotlight.org) – Although American officials have stated that they do not perceive a full-scale war on the Korean Peninsula as an imminent threat, there are increasing indications that North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is making preparations for a deadly military assault against South Korea in the coming months.
Officials have noted that Kim’s threats should be taken seriously since they are more forceful than his previous provocation patterns and that he has already been functioning under a policy of open animosity against South Korea.
Kim’s attacks might be executed in a manner that prevents a complete escalation, similar to how North Korea bombarded a South Korean island in 2010. The fighting quickly ceased following an exchange of artillery fire that killed soldiers on both sides as well as civilians in the South.
Meanwhile, the North Korean dictator continues to rattle his saber. He launched multiple cruise missiles into international waters from its western coast on Wednesday. People on surrounding islands were forced to take cover.
This display follows last week’s claim by Kim’s administration regarding testing a new solid-fuel intermediate-range missile with a hypersonic payload.
After months of hinting at the possibility, North Korea’s official news media declared on January 16 that Kim had chosen to officially forsake the nation’s official aim of peaceful reunification with South Korea. The symbol of reunification, The 3rd Charter of National Reunification Monument, has been demolished, according to satellite footage.
Kim stated that the nation’s constitution should eliminate any mention of unification with the Republic of Korea, also known as South Korea. He then went on to say that the matter should be clarified as wholly occupying, subjugating, and reclaiming the nation and its potential annexation in the case of a Korean Peninsula war.
According to Jean Lee, a fellow at Honolulu’s East-West Center, Kim is trying to sow instability and fear with his remarks and policy shifts. There is a maritime boundary issue, and she went on to say that Kim may launch attacks on South Korean islands in the West Sea.
As for the Korean Peninsula, an article published this month by two North Korean specialists said that it is more dangerous than it has been at any time since early June 1950, referring to the invasion of South Korea by Kim Il-sung, Kim’s grandfather.
