Biden Assures Israel Support ‘Ironclad’ Amid Passover

(PatriotSpotlight.org) – U.S. President Joe Biden has offered a message of support for the State of Israel as Jewish people across the world prepare to observe the festival of Passover.

In an official statement published on Sunday, Biden stressed his administration’s unwavering support for the Jewish State while acknowledging the challenges posed by its current conflict with Hamas, and soaring tensions with Iran. Biden wrote that the holiday acts as a reminder of the important truth that holding on to faith in the face of persecution helps us “ endure and overcome”. “We can never forget the horror of Hamas’ despicable atrocities,” he went on, referring to the Gaza-based Islamist terror groups’ atrocities against Israeli civilians, including rocket attacks on civilian areas, and the torture, murder, rape and kidnapping of over 1000 people.

Biden reaffirmed his “ironclad” commitment to Israel’s security and right to exist as a Jewish state. His remarks come amid climbing criticism of Israel, especially among Democrats, with claims that Israel’s military actions in Gaza are too harsh. Biden also addressed the hostage crisis involving Hamas who kidnapped more than 1500 people from Southern Israel on October 7th 2023. Over 100 hostages are thought to remain in Gaza. He stated that his administration is working “around the clock” to secure their release while reiterating his support for a temporary ceasefire agreement to facilitate humanitarian aid and hostage talks. Biden also reaffirmed his support for a two-state solution for both Israelis and Palestinians in the reign.

Biden also emphasized his opposition to antisemitism, referring directly to the themes of the Jewish text read during Passover, and reminded Americans of the need to stand against hatred and discrimination. Biden claimed that “Silence is complicity” and said the ancient Passover story of anti-Jewish persecution was a reminder to “speak out against the alarming surge of antisemitism” across education, communities and the internet. Last week Iran fired hundreds of missiles towards Israel following an alleged Israeli strike on two of its commanders in Damascus. The majority of them were intercepted by Israeli technology.
